Final Update – March 22, 2010

The white MacBook is alive again. I took it to the local Apple store and told them my story. They sent it to the depot for a flat repair rate of $280 (plus tax) to fix anything and everything that needed fixing. They threw in the "unless water or other damage not covered" disclaimer of course. It came back less than 3 days later with a new logic board and a new "top cover". The top cover is what goes around the keyboard. Apparently it had "numerous cracks and miscellaneous" according to the repair sheet. I figured the logic board was bad since numerous Google searches had indicated this. I was told that an in-store repair like that would have cost upwards of $500 just for the part.
The white MacBook now begins its new journey with a new owner. Jason (Amy's brother) will be taking it to NY with him as he attends culinary school. Good luck to him and the MacBook.

Update: The white Macbook is dead. It won't even turn on. Not at all. Nothing. It has been replaced with a new aluminum MacBook Pro. I am going to have to take it to the Apple store to have them tell me what the heck happened to it.
